Wolf (Damian Wickie) is a graphic artist turned animator and 3D modeler, as well as a Certified Content Developer for Reallusion.

Wolf: Originally utilizing graphic design as a creative outlet, I spent 7 of the last 10 years working on graphic still art (www.wolfzone.org), website graphics and some rudimentary flash design. About 3 years ago, I came across Reallusion’s iclone software through the Coolclones.com fansite and have been hooked on animation ever since. I really enjoy digging deeply into the software to get to the nuts and bolts of its capability and more importantly to expand my own skill set and create enjoyable, visually stimulating animated films. I’m from Canada where I live with my wife and 2 lovely daughters (both of which who love getting involved with my animations and quite frequently directing my films).

Dulci started creating machinima-type movies in 2005. She is also a voiceactress.

Dulci: A little over a year ago, some of the members of TMUnderground.com, a creative community I’m actively involved in, began discussing iClone and that stimulated my interest. I purchased version 3 and have grown increasingly impressed by the capabilities of iClone and its ease of use. As a machinima hobbyist, I have found that iClone has really enabled me to open up my imagination and create movies that match my vision. I’m from the United States and live with my husband and son.

Daemon Bio: Greetings comrades! Well where do I begin…I’m an M.com Director and founder of the Daemon Productions production group. I’m the co-creator of The Archaeus Saga. I direct, write, edit and even voice act if necessary. I’m attending university and working towards a Bachelors in English Literature in order to become a teacher and I hope someday to write something that’ll be published in one format or another (not all that picky on which). Like it says up there, I truly do believe in the promise this artform has for amateur film makers and if I help inspire someone to be daring and thought-provoking with their work, then I’ll have accomplished something great.

Daemon Productions was founded in 2009 by Christopher Arnold, a then highschool student who had nothing but a laptop, a capture card, and a desire to tell stories. As the months went by, more people became a part of the group, including David Eby and Karl Garneau. Together they made the series Unexpected and Manifest Destiny, as well as several music videos and other assorted shorts. But as time went on, they all realized that machinima had changed. Audiences demanded films of a higher quality then could be reasonably produced by a small group, and with the advent of Respawn, machinima as an artform now suddenly had to compete with new forms of content that could be produced faster. Realizing this, Daemon Productions shifted focus from being a group with a single director to being a machinima production company, pooling resources such as voice actors, composers, and CGI artists together and making them available to talented machinima film makers who had been unable to get onto the machinima channel on their own. Daemon Productions now stands as a massive network of machinima talent, with several machinima directors working on their own independent productions within the group, all linked together by a common goal: to ensure that machinima remains relevant in the eyes of the community

Wardog So i kinda got into making movies when i was around 9 or 10, and when i turned 12 my friend helped me make movies. its not really what i want to do as a job, because im more interested in making videogames because ive got all of these ideas and i know that the videogame market can get you a LOT of money. but for the Frontlines series i got my inspiration during a class project where i was given a period in history to do like a model or anything, and they gave me 1940-1945. so I made the frontlines. The second two episodes were entirely recreational and i dont plan to further it because the next episode was going to have tanks and airplanes and i just couldnt afford it. Then i thought of the cold war and start production immediately.

Jake has been working with movies almost his whole life. The most recent software he has been using is Moviestorm. He now hosts the Moviestorm Radio show called the Storm Hour. He has directed such movies as The Scar, Foggy Nights, and Kuroken. He also voice acted in movies such as Voyages of Sojourner, The Bard, The Nobbit, and Kuroken.

Info For Upcoming Donation Stream

For those of you that were not in my last stream on Saturday, I will be hosting a Donation Stream this coming weekend starting on Friday afternoon. A video will be posted on my YouTube channel before I set up so keep an eye out. That said, here’s what the stream will be for.

My family and I have been going through some financial troubles and we’re struggling the best we can to try and make ends meet. Due to circumstances, my mom has been finding it harder to get a job. My current job has had some recent cutbacks on work hours which doesn’t help any better with the income. Bills have been piling up and we’re on the risk of possibly losing one or two utilities for the household. Add to the fact that the economy has been down the crapper and still sinking and you pretty much have an idea of what’s going on.

So that’s pretty much where we stand. I’m hoping and praying that things will turn around soon, but bills will not wait. This is something that will have to be dealt with before then. So to help us try and stay afloat, I’m hoping to raise at least $500. It should be enough to keep us going for a bit longer and to keep food on the table and so on.

Here’s where you come in. If you see this blog and/or see the video on my channel that talks about the donation stream, if you can please pass the message along to everyone you know. Get the word out. The more people the merrier. Also, do come out to the stream if you can. Any support you can provide would be greatly appreciated. One more thing to address, gotta lay a few ground rules down:

1) Don’t spam!

2) Do not  ask to be a mod in the stream. I will have a few people of my choosing taking care of that.

3) Do not beg to be in skype calls that may go on during the stream. I’ve seen this a number of times. If I want someone in a call, I will come to you.

4) Be on your best behavior in the chat. We’re here to have fun, not cause total chaos to others.

5) If one starts causing any trouble and cannot follow these rules, a 3 Strike Rule will be implemented. First strike gets you a warning. Second strike gets you kicked from the stream. Third strike gets you banned for good.

Hopefully, this shouldn’t be a problem, but gotta keep my bases covered ya know.

Mary Wickentower is a resident of Sansara, the first and oldest mainland continent in SL. She is owner / curator of the Art of Mary Wickentower, an original collection of RL photography and abstract photography.

Mary is running for President on the Virtual Party ticket and assures us that she is prettier than Palin and has better hair than Bachmann. Mary is very active in the literary and media community in SL, participating “The Sounds of Poems”, “Photohunt”, “The Artist Sandbox, as well as participating in a number of Machinima competitions.

At an early age I was coerced to imitate Frank Fontaine as Crazy Guggenheim from the old Jackie Gleason show. It made my dad and uncles laugh and since they were the funniest people I knew, I considered that quite an achievement. I wrote my own comic books as a kid/teen and even dabbled in some live action movies. I gravitated to observe and absorb all types of comedy. I still love a good action or suspense movie as well, though. I wrote some stand-up but never performed it. Wrote a comic strip but never published it (I can’t draw) and I once won a Beer Commercial idea contest for a considerable amount of money. RandomDCE is a sprite artist, based mainly on Youtube and Storm-Artists. DCE has a very wide variety of sprite characters he creates. They are often featured in his videos and they are almost exclusively humorous. His namesake character, The-DCE, is a cat with a hat on it’s head. It’s ears aren’t visible. He also has other characters that are parodies of other Youtubers (Jellyfish Junkie, FaiL, Westwoof, etc.). His most popular character to date is Vazul, who has the same voice as the Angry German Kid internet meme. He does a wide variety of videos, including commentaries (Ear Rape Coffee’s or ERC’s for short), reviews (Percy Positive and Vazul and Friends), skit videos (1549, among others), and many, many more. He loves to parody, and will not pass up the chance of parodying absolutely anything and everything. He was also in charge of the commentary channel JetDroidMonkey for a short while, where he has hosted other people’s commentaries as well as his own. He spends most of his time making videos for his channel and uses only Windows Movie Maker and MS Paint, with the occassional use of photoshop. When he tells this to people, they often look at him in shock. He firmly believes that you do not have to have good technology in order to create good videos and he does not feel the need to use technology of that caliber.

Phaylen Fairchild Bio Charter Member Phaylen Fairchild began her Second life on New Years Eve 2002, making her one of the oldest virtual residents on the Second Life Grid today. Her passion began primarily in MMORPG’s, which she later integrated into her real life work, starting as Assistant Site Manager for The Warcry networks Everquest 2 community site and soon taking on the task of Site Manager for Warcry’s Matrix Online Portal. During her time at Warcry, Phaylen eventually worked actively across all of the networks community sites, including the Central Hub where she managed and provided content, recruited volunteers, developed incentive programs and worked with game developers to strategize the release of information regarding high profile titles to ensure maximum demographic exposure. While at Warcry, she was the first to interview ex-VP of Marketing and Community Development for Linden Lab.

In the early days of Second Life, it was not uncommon for Linden Lab to phone residents to inquire about their thoughts and suggestions on the development of the new world and Miss Harper and Phaylen spoke often regarding it’s direction and future.

After leaving Warcry, Phaylen moved on to IGN to join their budding World Of Warcraft community portal team. Similar to her position at Warcry, she wrote content for the website, hired volunteer staff and moderated the community forums. She developed a strong working relationship with the Developers at Blizzard and participated in the very early stages of their Alpha Phase.

Phaylen eventually left behind her virtual duties to resume her longtime aspiration of writing Screenplays and Novels which she has set aside prematurely years before when she achieved success as an award winning writer at the age of twenty. While still dabbling in Second Life in her spare time, she discovered it’s potential for storytelling and eventually began filming short sequences within the platform. Soon, she had taught herself to use advanced editing software and special effects programs and the hobby of virtual film making became a irreplaceable creative outlet which she utilizes to this day.

Rysan Fall Bio I am an aspiring Graphic Designer/ Video editor/Machinimator inside Second Life. If you are interested in having any artwork done please feel free to contact me.

My name is Rysan Fall. I have been a member of Second Life since Dec 2nd, 2007. I have been making machinima since February 2008.I got the idea to do it because I am novice video editor in real life and I thought Second Life would be a great place to practice shooting some scenes in real world. I am basically a one man production company, producing commercials, short films and personal videos for customers inworld. I started “Fall Films” in March of 2008 and since then I have completed 21 videos.

I film, direct, and edit everything myself along with coming up with the concept for each video. I love machinima …I was doing it before I even knew there was a whole new genre of video dedicated to it. And I hope to be as good as some of the other seasoned machinimators Ive seen out there such as Madame Zhora and Baron Soosdon, to name a few. I was really impressed with Trace/Tracechops/LainyVoom for her work on “The Dumb Man.” Simply incredible. I am inspired by them. Thats why I will always try to top my last video…because if I can do that , I will only get better. I am proud be part of this new and exciting style of film making.

ABOUT SL entry: 2005 first home in Sl was in region Lippert (mainland)

2006 bought first private region and what is now about a dozen regions (Moon Park Land Sales)

2006 started Qsim design and configurations (quad region clusters) this required going to Rez-Faux and designing rezzable scripts that would rez across sim lines, as it didn’t exist.

2007 designed and built the AV1000 A/V switching system with the help of good friend and acclaimed script artist, RumbleR Boa.

2007 Provided all the streaming to inworld for Burning Life 07 (BL07) also was on the entertainment committee for that yr.

2008 I became the technical director for Cuttingt Edge Concerts and partner with Ray0 Raymaker, 30 yrs experience on road with big name bands. I built lighting and effects for concerts and held one of SL’s largest events on new designed Qsim. Pink Floyd Production, attendence was 269 avatars at one time. We were proud that nVidia agreed to be our sponsor.

2009 Built my first grid on opensim on my computer from early OS grid build package, gave that up due to unstable code at the time and decided to do what i love best, and that’s putting on the show.

2009 I took up the open source script, phpmotion and built AviewTV then with my 2 programmers that I hired we tweaked the script and now developing desktop software that will enable users to convert, watermark, tag, description, and ftp upload to site and make stream ready for Virtual World viewing all from desktop. Chantal Harvey was early beta tester for this work.

2010 I became Media Adviser for UWA & assist JayJay who is on LEA committee also. during this time I also became Tech director for Chantal Harvey and MMIF, as well as Frolic Mills and BOSL. Because of Chantals efforts, I also became the sponsor for the in world events for the 48 Hour Film Project, providing services from AviewTV

2011 Finds me still working on software (mainly budget needs) but again thru the efforts of Chantal Harvey I was introduced to LEA and asked to design some equiptment for the Theater. this consist of custom servers and relays on the regions and Qsim config. Added the lighting and clear screens for Werner and made rezzable index menu device for all to use when not in use by management.

2011 moving onto advancement in site design and incorparating the new software. http://help.vidgui.com/?page_id=2 is some detail on the software and downloadabe version but not ready for release yet. These are earlier versions of what I use now to process the videos i host on AviewTV to inworld.

Well thats it in a nutshell. I don’t type very well at all, it’s wonder i can build anything, and as you see above, most of my talents are visible only because of others. not just myself. I dream it up, my friends help me put it into practical application. So any graditude goes to those people.

Darth Bio WHO AM I?: I’m currently living near Bath, England and recently finished a degree in Computer Applications. For as long as I can remember my favourite films have been the Star Wars trilogy. When I started seeing the fanfilms that people were making, I of course wanted to have a go but lacked enough willing friends to make that possible so I turned to animation to produce my first masterpiece…ok maybe not

I was proud of the result but I didn’t really enjoy producing it, which is how I returned to machinima (it just seemed right, since the early 90s I’ve been interested in modiying games so that came in very handy) for my next project Consanguinity and that’s how I became part of the community.

I’m currently working on an original science fiction project called Chronicles of Humanity, which having realised how much work it’s going to involve, I must be out of my mind It’ll be worth it though.

WHAT DO I WANT?: To tell stories using whatever mediums I can, hopefully to entertain and if I’m lucky to help people learn how to be better.

WHERE AM I GOING?: Wherever my path takes me.

Archivist holds the Master in Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree and is a professional librarian and archivist. Archivist’s background includes approximately 15 years of work experience in informal education (library, archive, museum) and formal education (K-16). She is a writer, editor and presenter. During her graduate study for the MLIS, she completed a project relating to the history of the U.S. Space Shuttle Program at NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Prior to obtaining her graduate degree, Archivist worked at the Neil Armstrong Air & Space Museum assisting with the education programming and working as a tour guide. Later, Archivist worked with the collection of one of the founding members of NACA (the precursor to NASA) located in the Oberlin College Archives. Archivist then served for a year as the Archivist of a living Nobel Prize winning scientist’s collection (James D. Watson, co-discoverer with Crick and Wilkens of the structure of DNA) in the area of molecular biology. She has lectured on molecular biology digital resources at the University of California, Berkeley (2007) and science archives and history at the University of Oxford (2008). She presently serves at the volunteer Director of the Library and Archives at NASA CoLab in Second Life, the first library or archives in a synthetic immersive environment recognized by the Library of Congress. The project received various media coverage, including an article on CNN’s website. Her publishing background includes Technical Reviewer for a best selling book in Library and Information Science Automation published by O’Reilly (2008) and editorial duties for two books published by Cambridge University Press (2004-5) as well as three other books. Archivist was awarded a full scholarship for three years to complete her Ph.D. at the University of Cambridge.

Flimsey Freenote is the CEO of Fluent Media Productions, which owns MetaMixTV. She is the producer of several short independent films and music videos (Lucky Stars and String Me Up), a long-time contributor to the arts and education communities. She has received awards for her work in short film as well as her accomplishments as a 3D builder and designer. A veteran contributor to Second Life, she participates in developer groups, in advisory groups for media and education communities, and she regularly mentors new filmmakers in the field of machinima. While the play on words has been used through the internet, in the right entertainment circles, there is only one true “psylent.knight.” From director, writer, voice and live actor, to electronic composer, he’s made a sound name for himself throughout the web, even if under other names as well.

“Though I was making music under the Victor Creed name, I was always interested in doing video editing after a friend of mine got me interested,” he reflects, “there were tons of AMV’s (Anime Music Videos) we’d watch and I was always coming up with ideas, but didn’t get to start making them for years. Once I did, it was like I opened the creative floodgates to a new outlet.”

From there, he had been introduced to not only the concept of fan-based voice over projects (or fandub), but took the chance to take part of a few, leading to the creation of his first fandub, “The Kennedy Report: Resident Evil 4,” which also combined fan fiction and machinima elements to create a new story around the existing plot of the famed horror series.

Along with writing, directing, and co-starring, Richard has also done the score to The Kennedy Report. “This was my chance to get my John Carpenter on,” he laughs, “as he was the first director I knew of that would also score his work. Though most of it was made exclusive for the series, I made sure I had placed music that fit with the miasma of both the established world, and the new one I built around it.”

With many different voice acting projects under his belt and under way, Psylent still keeps busy with other projects to helm. His most current one being the audio drama “Flashpoint: Sonic the Hedgehog,” a more adult take on the video game franchise that he claims “is a fan-fiction in definition only…created as a personal dare to give a childhood icon a unique edge.” He hopes, in time, to have created a new, more original production once Flashpoint has finished, as well as have time to produce a new music review series to come in the later months.

“When a meteorite crash lands in the Nevada desert, a young girl named Samantha (Dani Freeze) and her dog Jackson (Patrick Lewis) become unwitting hosts to the meteorite’s alien inhabitants. Now calling themselves Queen Shikal and Coreth, they strive to bring their species the Goronade back from the brink of extinction by using the planet Earth’s population as hosts.

Only the elemental knights, Leader Sasaki Sterling (Matt Wiabel), his girlfriend Talia Azmaus (Christina Traister), twins Nami Geran (Christa Rew), and Althaus Geran (Jim Lowery), Doctor’s Darius Aurum (Ira Kinser), and Sako Sterling (River Kanoff), time traveling soldier Tara Nadeah (Tisha Eaton) and 14th century sword smith Plasmas (Christopher Chan) are the only beings standing between Shikal and her bid to planetary irradiation.

But things take a drastic turn, when the knights are sent to an alternate reality. Stranded, and powerless, the knights, with the help of that realities elemental knights, must find a way home before while there is still a home to save.”

The special’s first part will be released on April 13th, and each subsequent part will be released up until the day of the anniversary on the 17th of April. The special also marks the first entry of the series for actors Tisha Eaton, River Kanoff and Robert Thomas Hawke who replace the departing Ben McCauley, and Kailey Peak respectively.

The special also is the first time the series will incorporate a digital comic type aspect, with less narration, and artwork stills to help drive the story.

About Sasaki Sterling:

Sasaki Sterling is a sci-fi audio drama created in 2003 about a group of unwilling adults chartered to protect a set of elemental sabers from a reanimated Chinese emperor from the 14th century. Combining team work, and comedy, the group must work together to stop Emperor Nova, and his Order from destroying the world.

Graycon Sonata Graycon Sonata Director/Writer/Producer – Graycon’s unique ability to write seems to run in the family. She is the grandniece of the acclaimed writer, interpreter and historian, Itic Swartz Cara. She is currently working as Director/Co-Writer for “What Did She Say”, “Dark Curtains”, Co-writer for TV pilot currently titled “Dark Sided Jewel” and Director/Writer for “Cover to Cover”. Graycon is an associate member of the Director’s Guild of Canada (DGC) and a Ryerson University Graduate. Her past experience in the film industry encompasses both film as well as stage. Her diverse skills are readily apparent on both sides of the camera. Graycon has directed and written a feature film called Vengeance Circle and film shorts which include: Silence in Chaos, The Search, Loneliness, Date from Hell as well as Loser Date Parade and Don’t Slip the Dark. Philena Rush I can be rather intense. But I’m for the most part a softy. I can read minds. You may have difficulty understanding me because I’m rather complex and deep. I’m an ametuer mystic, but it’s just a fun way to calm down my utopian impulses. I do not have a collective mindset when it comes to gangs, greek clubs, or religious beliefs. Probably because I don’t have anything in my 2nd Quadrant. (astro) or I’m a 9 (numbers). This may be my last run, so I’m making it count, while interested in the deeper meaning of “phi”

My name Philena means “Lover of Mankind”. My avatar name is usually LOM in most 3D grids. I did this to keep my self-concepts in check.

I’m a great project starter. However, I do jump around on management tools. Depends on my mood.

I don’t work well with authority figures, but I can be too hard on myself. Coming from a family of enterpreneurship, and artistic talents, I still search for balance between the two. I’m way too thrifty and pratical. Sometimes I wish I was more materialistic, but then again, my ego is not really that big, so I just want to kick those types in the !!!!

As a kid, I grew up with a ColecoVision and DOS. The days before an operating system makes me feel old. Seems like turning on a computer and only seeing C:> prompt is such a distance memory.

I lost interest during the dawn of the internet, and it took me awhile to play catchup again. I’m very good at what I like to do, and suck at what I don’t like. You may think all people are like that, but I’m REEEALLY bad with it. I will quit jobs over it, without a backup plan. That’s how impulsive I can be. I’m terrible with names, so when I meet people in real life, you better connect with me online, just so it will stick.

Most people that disagree with me, still like me, so don’t worry about any hard feelings. I get along well with others. I would say that I was extrovert before the internet, and became introvert afterwards. But then again.. I still like to play around with both. I’ve giving presentations with large/small crowds online/offline, so I’m pretty flexible. Been a meetup.com organizer on/off as well.

I’m a new adapter and beta tester type. In the pioneer class.

My daughter is autistic so she makes me work my pineal gland extra hard just to communicate. And my son is very conceptual. I have about 7 spiritual husbands all together.

So I finally got a blog. After 13 years online in some form or another, and 10 years actually working in New Media, I got a blog. But this blog isn’t about ME, it’s about Second Life and my adventures in there with my avatar, Toxic Menges.

I have been working in my father’s professional sound studio since I was five years old and I have been used as a voice talent in various radio commercials, assorted radio productions and dramatizations, and have developed an understanding of the voice recording/production industry ever since.

I am skilled in engineering/production services utilizing the Adobe Audition multitrackrecording/ programming system.

I am not curently a member of SAG or AFTRA, but would be willing to renew my memberships as required.

Both my Parents are professional writers and both work in the performance arts, therefore I have picked up a few tricks about writing, acting and voice acting, and Internet publishing in the process. As my father has long worked in the radio broadcast industry, I have had the privilege through the years to work with both broadcast computer systems and have spent long hours in the production room playing, producing, editing and babysitting for various people at the station. I also have produced and voiced a large number of radio commercials. Learning to use various writing and word processing programs on the computer, I authored a comprehensive treatment about a game concept at a very young age, that I still have today. I have also helped in writing, producing and voice-acting in a couple of radio dramas with my parents.

We are offering an affordable suite of market-leading products that are fun and easy to use, which inspire people to do more, and which combine to form a full-featured movie-making environment. We want a million kids to make a movie, purely for the fun of it! Moviestorm was founded in 2003 by Cambridge entrepreneurs Matt Kelland and Dave Lloyd. They began researching into emerging forms of media, and in particular, innovative ways in which game technology could be applied to non-game environments and media. In summer 2004, they began to focus on the field of Machinima. Their debut demo film, No Licence, received critical acclaim, and has been regularly shown at film festivals, game conferences, art installations and on television worldwide ever since. Building on this experience, Matt and Dave co-authored Machinima, with Dave Morris, (Ilex 2005) the first general interest book on the subject. In autumn 2005, Moviestorm received investment from a consortium of private and institutional investors in order to found Moviestorm Limited and develop the Moviestorm community and the Moviestorm application. Since then, the team has continued to grow, and has raised further funds to continue development of Moviestorm.

Brandon McAllister (October 5th, 1986) Has been an artist and writer most of his life. Besides developing Sasaki Sterling since 2003, he enjoys watching films, studying sci-fi and doing amature voice work. He Currently resides in Milwaukee, WI

Sasaki Sterling began as a series of sketched on April 17th, 2003. I initially designed Sasaki and Sako on the first day, and soon throughout the course of the next year, developed the other lead characters. The final characters to be developed were Tara and Plasmas in 2005. In the same year, I began to write scripts, and soon I had an entire season. There are to date three distinct versions of the series. The current version is going to be adapted into a novel sometime this year. So make sure to keep an eye out!

Synopsis -

Sasaki Sterling revolves around a group of teenagers who are reluctantly chosen to battle against an evil faction of reanimated warriors from the past as the Elemental Knights. Wielding powerful sabers crafted from an alien ore and each harnessing an earth element, they must learn to become warriors, and embrace the lessons along the way while discovering the mysteries of the swords they wield.

Back Story -

A experimental compound from the year 2431 AD called Chronotonium (Which is essentially an element synthesized through the time stream) mysteriously vanishes from a lab on Mars’ Vanguard Institute. After passing through the dimensional and temporal plain, arrives in Ancient China during the year 1308 AD. As it arrives it is discovered by a sword smith (Zaito), and as he witness it exhibit elemental energy, he crafts the ore into seven Elemental Sabers.

As he presents them to the Emperor (Nova), the blades are rejected, and their powers kill a guard and eventually destroy the valley. Some seven hundred years later the sabers are uncovered by a lightning strike, and reanimate six members of the valley’s populace (The Order).

As the Order goes on a killing spree, they arrive in America, and by chance meet the five teens (Sasaki, Nami, Talia, Althaus, and Darius). Zaito defects, and presents his blades to the teens. As they bond with them, the two sides begin a classic struggle of Good versus Evil.

“The series centers around the Bone Family, white, bald cartoon caricatures with big noses. In the opening pages the three Bone cousins—avaricious Phoncible P. “Phoney” Bone, goofy cigar-smoking Smiley Bone, and everyman character Fone Bone—are run out of their hometown of Boneville after Phoney decides to run for mayor and built a balloon on top the head of a statue of Boneville’s founder. The balloon broke the head off of the statue and all the towns people ran Phoncible, Smiley, and Fone out of town. After crossing a desert and ending up in the mysterious Valley, the cousins are separated by a sea of locusts, and must individually make their way across the fantasy landscape pursued by rat creatures. They joyously reunite at a local village called Barrelhaven, where they are taken in by a mysterious girl named Thorn and her even more enigmatic grandmother. Fone Bone instantly develops a crush on Thorn when he meets her, and repeatedly attempts to prove his love through poetry. As they stay longer in the valley, they encounter humans and other creatures who are threatened by a decrepit dark lord, the Lord of the Locusts. The Bones are quickly drawn into the events around them, compelling them on a hero’s journey to help save the world.”

Bone is an independently published comic book series, originally serialized in 55 irregularly-released issues from 1991 to 2004. Bone was drawn and written by Jeff Smith.

Smith’s black-and-white drawings were inspired by animated cartoons and comic strips, a notable influence being Walt Kelly’s Pogo: “I was … a big fan of Carl Barks and Pogo, so it was just natural for me to want to draw that kind of mixture of Walt Kelly and Moebius.”[1] Accordingly, the story is singularly characterized by an effective combination of both light-hearted comedy and dark, epic fantasy: Time Magazine has called the series “as sweeping as the Lord of the Rings cycle, but much funnier.”[2] The series was published bimonthly with some delays from June 1991 to June 2004. The series was self-published for the 19 issues, then printed on Image Comics until issue #29, in which it reverted to its original self-publishing company, Cartoon Books.

Bone has received numerous awards, among them ten Eisner Awards[3][4][5][6][7] and eleven Harvey Awards.[8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16] In 2005, Time chose the 1,342 page compilation as one of the 10 best English language, graphic novels ever written.
